Husband and wife team, Sergiu Brindusa and Beth Moore, opened the Brindusa-Moore Ballet Academy in September 2005 and produced 8 full length ballet’s; Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Giselle, Coppelia, Swan Lake, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Nutcracker all to great acclaim. They were selected by Rotary Club of Pocatello in 2006 and 2007 to produce the community Nutcracker, garnering for the club successive years of the largest proceeds ever which the club distributed throughout the community in support of the cultural arts. In December 2007, the Rotary Clubs of Pocatello and Blackfoot worked together to bring the production to the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center, as well, earning for that venue its largest audience ever. They continued their partnership with the Rotary Club of Pocatello for 11 years until 2016 and were presented with the President’s Award for “service above self” in 2009.
In May, 2007, Brindusa-Moore Ballet Academy and its Directors received the Pocatello Arts Council Community Partnership Award “in appreciation of the exceptional contribution to promoting the arts in our community.” Mr. Brindusa and Ms. Moore also were honored as recipients of an Idaho State Journal Business Award for 2007 as “Overachiever(s) Under 40.”
In 2016 they formed another successful entity, Alliance Academy of Dance, where they continued to produce their iconic productions. They are the recipients of the Outstanding Teacher’s award from the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix and Outstanding Coach award from the Universal Ballet Competition where some of their very best students clinched top awards including the Grand Prix and Rising Star. Their method of teaching has an undeniable track record of success for children.
Though born on opposite sides of the Atlantic, their paths crossed twice at significant times in their dance training and careers. Their first introduction was at the prestigious Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., where they were both on full artistic and academic scholarships, though not in the same class. Ms. Moore received her earliest dance training in her native Atlanta, Georgia, with the Ruth Mitchell Dance Theater. She also studied with Pacific Northwest Ballet, The School of American Ballet, and The Joffrey Ballet, all on full scholarship, and at age 16 was a semi-finalist in the 1994 Jackson, Mississippi International Ballet Competition. Mr. Brindusa received his earliest training in his native Romania at the Institute of Music and Choreography in Bucharest. He came to the United States at age 14 to enter the Kirov Academy, graduating with the highest artistic achievement diploma. He danced on numerous occasions alongside stars of The Kirov Ballet and was twice a Finalist at the world-renowned International Ballet Competitions - in 2000 in New York City and in 2002 in Jackson, Mississippi.
Brindusa and Moore both joined Orlando Ballet in 1998, their paths crossing for the second time. They were featured in many leading, principal and soloist roles in both classical and contemporary ballets, including Paquita, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, La Bayadere, Coppelia, Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Swan Lake, Spartacus, West Side Story, Claire De Lune, Forever 40’s, Bolero and many others.
In the summer of 2024 Sergiu and Beth went for a change of pace and stepped aside from their roles of running a dance studio and committed to freelance teaching and coaching ballet. This opened the opportunity to work alongside Eagle Rock’s team of instructors as well as with others near and far. They happily share their expertise as master teachers in classical ballet.
