Samantha started doing gymnastics at 5 years old. During elementary school she decided to join a local studio where she met Carrie McCarty. She performed in the Idaho Falls 4th of July parade and fell in love with dancing. Through middle school she danced with Mini Honeybees, Junior Honeybees and did cheer for Rocky Mountain Middle School. Once she found out Carrie was the coach for Honeybees and opening her own studio, she immediately tried out. Samantha was on Honeybees for 4 years during high school, held an officer position for 3 years, including Captain her Senior year, earned 1st place at State in her Lyrical Routine and 1st in Military at Nationals. She loved dancing for her high school dance team, being Co-Editor of their school yearbook and participating in Ms. Bonneville. She also danced at Eagle Rock Dance for 3 years during high school, winning awards for her team routines, solo routines and getting the opportunity to perform during the Utah Jazz Basketball Halftime Game.
Following high school, Samantha danced for the College of Southern Idaho for 2 years, and was able to dance during the NJCAA Boys Basketball halftime, where our boys took Nationals in 2011. She took classes for performance and lighting, pointe, hair and makeup, dance history, performed Thriller and graduated with an Associates in Arts for dance. Samantha transferred to Idaho State University and got her CNA License and started to pursue her healthcare journey. While working as a CNA, she performed with the Mayhem Dance Productions, a semi adult professional team, until she became pregnant with her first child. She was then asked to help assist the Rocky Mountain Middle School Panther Dancers. After a year, she became head coach for RMMS and led their team to win several Championship Titles, overall awards and choreography awards. While coaching for RMMS, she was the assistant for the Bonneville High School Honeybees dance team as well. Samantha ended up coaching for RMMS Panther Dancers for 5 years, BHS Honeybees for 4 years leading them to state each year in multiple dance routines. She coached various styles including lyrical, contemporary, military, jazz, hip hop, ballet, pointe, acro and pom.
Samantha has come full circle and back at Eagle Rock Dance, but this time to teach. Her passion for dancing has now turned into teaching the younger generation how to express theiremotion, be a good teammate, proper technique, accept new challenges and never give up when times are hard. Outside of teaching dance, you will find her at dance competitions supporting her daughter or on a wrestling mat cheering on her son. She loves hiking in Yellowstone, photography, spending time with family, playing games and going to the movies.
